THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is focused on a variety of aspects of family-related matters. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property division fights over child custody and child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce and enforcement matters as well as step-parent adoptions, private adoptions for parties as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by the court since 2019 she assists parties in helping them resolve their disputes without the need for litigation and court involvement. In addition to mediations arranged by the court, Ashley also mediates in private matters for those who wish to avoid the litigation and court process.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She continued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. When she graduated in 2013, she excelled academically, securing a spot among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an Editor of the Notes at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This proved her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to work as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown Maryland to serve as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services on cases dealing with child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who had suffered abuse or neglect at the parent or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice spanned far beyond her legal practice as she actively served as an executive member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, working diligently to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tristate area.

In 2017, she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and established her practice in family law including custody, divorce and child maintenance as well as guardianships – as well as financial planning and estate planning – wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies – and mediation.

Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. She has a the goal of providing an individual approach to each client's requirements.
